A New
Book by the Prevention
Doctor
March
12, 2002
Dr.
Vagnini's Healthy Heart
Plan, a new book by Dr.
Frederic J. Vagnini, "The
Prevention Doctor,"
was released this week
by Safe-Goods Publishing
(Sheffield MA) and will
be distributed in major
book outlets, Amazon.com,
and health food stores
beginning in January.
Dr.
Vagnini made the announcement
on his weekly radio program,
The Heart Show. (Sundays
4 PM, WOR-710, New York.)
The
new book follows The Carbohydrate
Addict's Health Heart
Program, a New York Times
bestseller in 2000, which
Dr. Vagnini co-authored
with Drs. Richard and
Rachael Heller.
Healthy
Heart Plan is written
in the vein of Dr. Vagnini's
health education radio
program. It outlines the
elements of a lifestyle
for preventing heart attacks
and strokes and related
diseases -- diabetes,
hypertension, and peripheral
vascular disease. It also
contains a section (contributed
by nutritionist Maria
Santoro) describing the
food supplements, which
Dr. Vagnini recommends
as a part of his practice.
The
subtitle of the book,
A surgeon's approach to
natural and allopathic
treatment for cardiovascular
wellness, underscores
Dr. Vagnini's experience
as a heart surgeon general
and his commitment to
both traditional and complementary
medicine in his practice.
Dr.
Vagnini regards the Healthy
Heart Plan book as a major
campaign in his "War
on Obesity": "The
United States Surgeon
has declared obesity a
national epidemic which
threatens our country"s
social fabric. Obesity
is key factor in heart
disease and every health
education effort must
be made to combat it."
