Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Over the last 10 years, even though my Center has been dedicated to heart disease, obesity, and diabetes, many heart and weight problems are related with menopause and I am using bio-identical hormone therapy over the last 10 years. With the recent surge of interest in this area secondary to the new book by Suzanne Somers, "The Sexy Years," the story continues to unfold.

Bio-identical hormone therapy basically is hormone replacement therapy from a natural point of view that is formulated by compounding pharmacists to produce a hormone formula similar to a woman's body's production. In other words, the formulation is estradiol 80%, estrone 10%, and estriol 10%. In addition to this natural progesterone and testosterone are used as indicated. And according to the well-known work of Dr. Lee, progesterone deficiency is a major problem in menopause and in the ageing process.
