Nattokinase is an enzyme extracted and purified from a Japanese food called Natto which is made from the fermentation process of soybeans. It is not found in other soy foods. It is an Anti-Fibrinogen, helps to improve circulation, reduce clotting and reduce blood viscosity. Fibrinogen is a natural part of the coagulation system that helps the body make clots. Everyone needs some fibrinogen to prevent massive bleeding problems, but often increases with age making the blood “stickier”. When the blood is too sticky it’s prone to clotting. The increased stickiness is thought to raise the chances of stroke and heart attack. It may also be involved in other chronic conditions such as diabetes, migraine headaches, varicose veins, and hypertension. Hypertension can also be related to elevated fibrinogen levels.Improvements in fibrinogen may improve blood flow, which can help improve many of these conditions. Studies have shown Nattokinase to lower blood pressure levels, by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). Ace causes blood vessels to narrow and blood pressure to rise. Nattokinase has also been shown to aid in blood flow by assisting in the clearing of circulation, and to help prevent the hardening and narrowing of arteries. Nattokinase is thought to be a supplement in minimizing the chances of developing heart and vascular diseases.
